The Ultimate Family Getaway
The picturesque Guineafowl Cottage was built with stone and handmade bricks almost a century ago. Now we have lovingly restored this pet-friendly Karoo farm cottage to maintain the historic feel while ensuring comfort. To do so, we used stone from the farm, Spanish reed ceilings, a cozy wood-burning fireplace, and antique oak furniture for the restoration, creating the look and feel of a bygone era of luxury while immersed in the Karoo. The large double-glazed picture windows allow for easy access to the wrap-around stone veranda and extend the living space. They bring in the spectacular vista of the fields and the “Vulture cliffs” that gave the farm its name.
We named Guineafowl Cottage for the striking black and white birds found on our Karoo farm. The open plan living area and outdoor space is perfect for relaxing—a book in one hand and a glass in the other.
The pet-friendly cottage is fully equipped for self-catering and perfect for a family or two couples. It features a comfortable open plan living room and kitchen, two bedrooms, and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom features a queen-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. The second bedroom has two single beds that convert to a double bed if needed. Both bedrooms have superior 95% goose down summer and winter duvets to provide both extravagance and comfort. A second full bathroom is equipped with a shower and deep antique bath to indulge yourself. Hot and cold air conditioning, a bathroom space heater electric blankets, wood-burning fire, and outside built-in braai add to your comfort. The stoep features a wood-fired Kolkol hot tub where you can soak in the views and watch the stars. Treat yourself to a perfect weekend getaway, or a longer stay to rejuvenate your soul.
